On average, medical students receive less than 2 hours of training during their entire medical degree. And 1 in 5 UK medical schools don’t provide any training at all.
Given that 1 in 50 people in the UK suffer from an eating disorder, and around 5% of the population will be affected at some point in lifetime, this is something that needs to change. We’re worth more than 2 hours.
We need all UK medical schools to include comprehensive training on eating disorders.
Getting in touch with a medical school to raise this with them directly is an influential action you can take. Hearing directly from students, alumni and societies at their university can be really impactful.
Read Up – You can read about the history of the campaign and key reports here. We also have a useful list of all medical schools and details of any progress we have made so far with them here.
Team Up - Collaborate, don’t duplicate. Find others who feel the same as you. You can share your knowledge, share the task of writing a letter, support each other and show the volume of support for the cause.
Stand Up - You can request a meeting with the medical school to discuss the issue further. This is a great opportunity to share your passion for the campaign in your own words.
