Ask your local politician to support increased training for future doctors

Medical students, our future doctors and future GPs, receive less than 2 hours of training on eating disorders during their entire medical degree.

1 in 5 UK medical schools don’t provide any training at all.

Inquiries in 2017 and 2019 sounded the alarm that improvements were needed in training on eating disorders for medical students and junior doctors.  But years have passed, and nothing has changed.

This isn’t good enough, and the consequences for people living with these mental illnesses and their families can be devastating and sometimes fatal.

This has to change.

We need all UK medical schools to include comprehensive training on eating disorders. We’re worth more than 2 hours.

We have written a letter that you can send to your local politician which calls on them to do their part to ensure that every medical student leaves their training as a doctor equipped to support recovery.

Just complete your details on the form on this page and you will be taken to the letter. Once you’re ready, remember to hit send.
